Bruce Blemings Obituary

Bruce Michael Blemings, age 84, of Lebanon Twp (Califon)., NJ passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Twp., NJ.

He was born on August 23, 1939 in New Jersey.  He spent his childhood in Milburn and Short Hills, NJ.  He was in the Class of 1957 of Milburn High School.  He resided in Lebanon Twp., NJ since 1968.

He was the son of the late Alfred and Helen Holz Blemings. 

Bruce was the loving husband of Ruth Briggs Blemings.  The couple celebrated their 62nd anniversary and are adamant on sharing that their 62-year journey had lots of ups and downs including marriage counseling on three different occasions, yet they never gave up together, allowing their love to always shine through. 

Bruce began his career as a car mechanic and later worked for Houdaille Construction Company in Bound Brook, NJ where he operated cement mixers.  He was instrumental in pouring the concrete while constructing Round Valley Reservoir.  He retired as a warehouse manager for an injection plastics company, Continental Precision Corporation / Montrose Molders Corporation of South Plainfield, NJ.

Bruce served in the National Guard and was a supporter of the National Association of Gun Rights.  In the past, he was also a 4H Leader with his wife. 

He loved watching football and basketball.  He and Ruth were cat lovers and rescued several cats during their retirement.  Early in their retirement they enjoyed traveling.  Bruce also enjoyed watching Fox News and of course, having his favorite treat, ice cream. 

Survivors in addition to his loving wife include three children; Kenneth P. Blemings and his wife Cara of Morgantown, WV, Jenifer J. Blemings of New Haven, CT, and Daniel J. Blemings and his wife Stacie of Dallas, TX. Ken, Jen and Dan all grew up in Califon and graduated from Voorhees High School. Bruce was proud that his three children all graduated college and went on to have successful careers. Five grandchildren; Benjamin Blemings (Ph.D) and his partner Margaret Bock (PhD) of Baltimore, MD, Elizabeth Blemings (BS) of New York, NY, Shannon Richmond Blemings (MD) and her husband Michael J. Clinton of West Hartford, CT, Cole Blemings (DO-student) of Conroe, TX and Kyle Blemings (DO-student) and his wife Amelia (BSN-student) of Conroe, TX.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by two brothers; Douglas Blemings and William Blemings. 

Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 12pm – 1pm with funeral service at 1pm.  All at Lower Valley Presbyterian Church, 445 County Road 513, Califon, NJ.  Interment at Lower Valley Cemetery in Califon, NJ.

Arrangements are under the direction of Naughright-Scarponi Funeral Home in High Bridge, NJ.
