Michael Frank Kovacsofsky, age 77, of Alexandria Twp., NJ passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 5, 1946 in Newark, NJ and spent the most of his childhood in Lyndhurst NJ. He lived and worked in both Georgia and South Carolina but relocated to Hunterdon County in 1983 where he lived most of his adult life. He resided in Alexandria Twp., NJ for the past 27 years.
He was the son of the late Paul and Geraldine Kovacsofsky (Bennett).
Michael was a loving husband to his wife Phyllis Kovacsofsky (Militello), celebrating more than 54 years of marriage together.
Michael graduated from the University of South Carolina with his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He spent the majority of his career with AT&T beginning at Western Electric in Kearny, NJ before moving on to Nassau Recycling in SC. Michael spent the remainder of his career working in property management retiring from AT&T in 1998 after 33 years.
Michael was an avid car enthusiast and motorcyclist for most of his life. He enjoyed exploring the scenic roads of NJ and PA where he lived. He also loved touring the East Coast on his motorcycle and was a proud member of the American Motorcycle Association. Michael had a passion for music and enjoyed researching and listening to all different genres of music. He treasured spending quality time with family and enjoyed vacations at the beach. Above all, Michael was a devoted husband and best friend to his wife and a proud father and grandfather to his two children and five grandchildren.
Michael is survived by his wife Phyllis Kovacsofsky; his daughter Angela Orth and husband Michael Orth of Milltown, NJ; his son Paul Kovacsofsky and wife Tracy Kovacsofsky of High Bridge, NJ; his five grandchildren Ryan Orth, Ella Kovacsofsky, Jason Orth, Lila Kovacsofsky, and Hazel Kovacsofsky; his brother James Kovacsofsky and his wife Isabel of Weston, CT; his sister Althea Bayer of Forked River, NJ; his sister-in-law, Josephine Giaquinto of Lyndhurst, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Michael is predeceased by his brothers in law, Ronald Milton Bayer and Anthony Giaquinto.
Calling hours will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 12pm -4pm with Funeral Service at 4pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment will be private.
