Stanley 'Stan' Bryan Christman

Stanley ‘Stan’ Bryan Christman, age 84, of Clinton Twp., NJ passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ. 

He was born on November 1, 1939 in Centerport, PA.  He spent his childhood in Centerport, PA and resided in Clinton Twp., NJ since 1970.

He was the son of the late Alvin and Sue Moyer Christman.

He was the husband of Sandra J. Swartley Christman, celebrating 60 years of marriage.

He graduated from Penn State University with his bachelor’s degree in physics and received his master’s degree from the College of New Jersey. 

Stan started his career as an Operating Engineer at Princeton Pennsylvania Accelerator and later worked as a Researcher for Bell Laboratories in Berkeley Heights, NJ.  He retired from Bell Laboratories after working with the company for 32 years.   After his retirement, he started ‘Hickory Hill Designs’ where he was a Lab Consultant to many College and University science departments.   

Stan participated in the choir at Clinton Presbyterian Church in Clinton, NJ and found joy in singing with the Hunterdon Choral Union. Over the years, he maintained memberships in various organizations, including the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), the American Vacuum Society, the North West NJ Chapter of the Beekeepers Association, and several agricultural associations. His deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors was evident through his active involvement in forestry, the operation of a small farm at home, and his passion for amateur radio.

Survivors in addition to his loving wife include two daughters; Anita Christman and her husband Stephen Lederach of Flemington, NJ and Theresa McGrath and her husband Kevin of North Plainfield, NJ.  Five grandchildren; Brendan Lederach and his wife Alysia, Bryan Lederach, Andrew Lederach, Emily McGrath and Grace McGrath.  One great-grandson; Oliver Lederach.  He is also survived by many loved extended family and friends. 

Predeceased by one sister; June C. Horning who passed away in 2018.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 12pm at Clinton Presbyterian Church, 91 Center Street, Clinton, NJ.  Interment will be private.
