Yvonne Hilda Waters

Yvonne Hilda Waters, age 88, of Raritan Twp., NJ passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ.

She was born on October 8, 1935 in Wilkes-Barre, PA.  She was a long-time resident of Long Valley, NJ before moving to Raritan Twp., NJ in 2012. 

She was the daughter of the late Laverne and Dorothy Frances Garey. 

Her beloved husband, Robert J. Waters Sr., passed away in 2020 after 58 years of marriage.

Yvonne earned her Certificate in Nursing from Philadelphia School of Nursing.  She worked as a Registered Nurse for Hagedorn Psychiatric Hospital in Glen Gardner, NJ until her retirement in 2002. 

Yvonne was a member of the Red Hat Society.  She loved reading, going to the beach and being in the sun.  With numerous Rutgers graduates in the family, she was also an avid Rutgers fan especially the University’s basketball and football teams.

Most of all Yvonne adored her family and loved taking care of them.  She was devoted to her beloved dog, ‘Mini’, a bichon and shih tzu mix. 

Survivors include three children; Carolyn F. Waters and her husband Mark Cannizzaro of Highlands, NJ, Margaret A. Waters of Flemington, NJ and Robert J. Waters Jr. of Garwood, NJ.  Two grandchildren; John Waters Dickson and Carolyn Waters Dickson.  She is also survived by one brother; Richard L. Garey of Honolulu, HI. 

Graveside service will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11am at Middle Valley Cemetery, 29 Beacon Hill Road, Middle Valley, NJ.

Arrangements are under the direction of Naughright-Scarponi Funeral Home in High Bridge, NJ.
