Gary F. Laughery

Gary F. Laughery, age 66, of Lopatcong Twp., NJ passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at St. Luke's Warren Campus in Phillipsburg, NJ. He was born on November 12, 1952 in Jersey City, NJ. He spent most of his life in Elizabeth, NJ before moving to Lebanon, NJ where he lived for many years. He moved to Lopatcong Twp., NJ one year ago. He was the son of the late John E. and Shirley Niemiec Laughery. He was the husband of Patricia Pallitta Laughery, celebrating 14 years of marriage. Gary was a Corporal serving in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1971 to 1974. During that time Gary was the recipient of numerous medals including Purple Heart Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Mast and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. He was also nominated for the Navy Cross during his service time. He was a very proud Marine and very passionate about his service. Gary earned his Bachelor's degree from Kean University in Business Administration. He retired several years ago as Principal of O'Donnell Insurance Agency in Lebanon, NJ. Memberships include the Lebanon Borough School Board where he was a former member. Gary enjoyed fishing and building model ships. Survivors in addition to his loving wife include Seven children; Colleen, Michael, Joy (Fred), Renee (Eddie), James, Kenneth and Brian. Four grandchildren; Maria, Cadence, Kayleigh and Madison. Five siblings; Kathie O'Grady, Missy Ford (Jim), Christine Cowan (Boz), Kevin (Betty), MaryEllen Kelly (Michael). Three sister-in-laws; RoseAnn Laughery, Kathleen Laughery and Ruthann Blake (Gene). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and beloved friends. Predeceased in addition to his parents by two brothers; John and Robert. Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 11am at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 155 Washington Avenue, Elizabeth, NJ. Interment will be private.
