Milton Richard Levasseur (70) passed away on January 7th, 2020, in the Pittsburgh, PA, Veterans Administration Hospital of metastatic esophageal cancer with his family by his side. Milton was born on October 6, 1949, in Van Buren, ME, to Fredrick and Mildred Levasseur. Milton graduated from North Hunterdon High School where he was selected to attend the NJ Carpenters Union Apprenticeship Program. Milton was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969; during his service, he was elevated to the rank of acting Sargeant in charge of the motor pool at Fort Sill, OK. Upon his return home, Milton completed his apprenticeship, graduated as a Journeyman Carpenter, and became a member of The United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local Union 455, Somerville, NJ, where his career spanned over four decades. Milton and his wife Teresa Heidemann Levasseur were married in 1986 and raised two sons, Phillip Gustav Levasseur and Richard Thomas Levasseur. Upon retiring from Carpenters L.U. 455(254), Milton earned his commercial driver’s license and went on to work in the natural gas industry in Northeast PA. Milton was an avid motorist and enjoyed touring the country with his wife by his side. Milton is survived by his wife, Teresa Levasseur of Glen Gardner, NJ; two sons, Phillip (Jacquelyn), Richard, and grandchildren, Gustav and Kathryn of Crafton, PA; brother, Victor Levasseur; sister, Rebecca Gromlowicz. Preceded in death by his father and mother Fredrick and Mildred; sister, Carrol Sciacca. Milton was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13th, 2020 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment at Restland Memorial Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.
