Raymond John Hartrum

Raymond ‘Wink’ ‘Whipper’ Hartrum, age 81, of Clinton Twp., NJ passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at home.

He was born on October 30, 1938 in Clinton Twp., NJ on the family farm and he was a lifelong resident of the area.

He was the son of the late Raymond and Alberta Winger Hartrum.

Raymond was the husband of Carol A. May Hartrum.

His career was spent as a truck driver.  Over the years he worked for John Bitto and also Reagent Chemical before his retirement.  

Raymond loved animals and loved his growing up on a farm in Hunterdon County.  He also enjoyed camping and coaching for the North Hunterdon Little League and Hunterdon Huskies.  One of his biggest joys was snow plowing – he enjoyed it with a passion.  He also enjoyed boxing as a teenager and continued to love the sport for many years.  His favorite teams were the Yankees and Giants.  Years ago, he bowled in a bowling league and also played softball for a league at the Rockaway Reformed Church.  He adored his grandchildren and loved telling stories to them.  His story telling will be forever missed. 

Survivors in addition to his loving wife include four children; Raymond and his significant other Nora of Port Charlotte, FL, Cynthia Etter and her husband Richard of Williams Twp., PA, Scott Hartrum and his wife Wendy of Palmer Twp., PA and Lori Bonner and her husband Rob of Clinton Twp., NJ.  Seven grandchildren; Brett Etter, Chelsea Etter and her fiancé Gil, Bryce Etter, Miranda Yarnall, Jett Hartrum, Alison Hartrum and Shane Pierson.  Three siblings; Raetta Bate of High Bridge, NJ, Harold ‘Hap’ Hartrum and his wife Diana of Hampton, NJ and Albert ‘Boots’ Hartrum and his wife Bonnie of White Twp., NJ.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law; Maryann Hartrum of Bridgewater, NJ as well as several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by three siblings; Muriel Szucs, Kenneth ‘Eagle’ Hartrum and Doris Pickell.  He is also predeceased by two brother-in-laws; Paul Bate and Bob Szucs.

Calling hours will be Sunday, December 22, 2019 from 3pm – 7pm.  Funeral Service will take place on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 11am.  All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ.  Interment at Musconetcong Valley Cemetery in Hampton, NJ.
