Richard John Hudak Sr.

Richard John Hudak Sr., age 83, of Lopatcong Twp., NJ passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at home. He was born on May 26, 1936 in Cleveland, OH. He resided in Lopatcong Twp., NJ since 2005, moving from Haskell, NJ where he lived for 40 years. He was the son of the late John Hudak and Julia Molnar Dodd. He was the husband of Betty Jane Cheon Hudak, celebrating 61 years of marriage. Richard served in the US Coast Guard from 1954 -1958. Until his retirement, Richard owned and operated R. J. Hudak Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. for 22 years. Over the years, he enjoyed volunteering for the East Jersey Trout Unlimited where he would teach children how to tie flies. Richard was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fly fishing, camping and golfing. He also loved his garden and planting flowers. He will always be remembered as being a man who was always ready to help anyone, including removing snow from his neighbors driveways. He also had a passion for playing the accordion and going on Sunday drives. Survivors in addition to his loving wife include one son; Richard J. Hudak Jr. and his wife Lisa. One daughter; Debbie Newcomb and her husband Jason. Six grandchildren; Christopher and his wife Erica, Nicole, Jaclyn, Scott, Jenna and Sean. One great-grandson; Colton. Predeceased by his daughter; Laura Hudak and one sister; Donna George. He is also predeceased by his step-father; Earl Dodd. Calling hours will be Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 9am to 10am with funeral service at 10am. All at Scarponi- Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ.
