Obituary

Suzanne Seavey Pieper, age 72, of Whitehouse Station, NJ passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019.

She was born on October 27, 1947 in Oak Park, IL.  She spent her childhood in Illinois before moving around the country with her husband while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force and then finally settling in Whitehouse Station, NJ in 1983.

She was the daughter of the late Alwin and Elizabeth (Champion) Seavey.

She was the wife of Delos Pieper.  The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 16th of this year.  They met while they were both attending The University of Illinois where she earned her degree in Elementary Education.

Suzanne was employed as a teacher in various states.  She taught at St. Paul’s Lutheran Preschool in Flemington, NJ for 15 years until her retirement.

Suzanne was a member of Readington Reformed Church in Readington, NJ for over 35 years.  She loved performing as a member of the Church’s Bell Choir.  In her younger years, she was a member of Job’s Daughters International.

She had many passions in life including traveling, dancing, gardening, sewing, crocheting and playing bunko.  She was thrilled to go on her first hot air balloon ride this past summer while in Sedona, AZ.  She enjoyed listening to oldies music and hosting parties and was always the life of the party.  She also loved going to the beach and especially loved visiting Hawaii with her family.  She enjoyed her and her husband’s second home in Fort Myers, FL where she had many beloved friends who will deeply miss her.

Suzanne will always be remembered for being a very generous, fun loving, selfless person who was the ‘glue’ that held the entire family together.  She adored her grandchildren as they were the highlight of her life.

In addition to her loving and devoted husband, Delos, Suzanne is survived by their three children, including Craig Pieper and his girlfriend Simone Criscio of Easton, PA and Christine Johnston and her husband Jason of Clemson, SC.  Six grandchildren: James Pieper who is currently serving with the U.S. Marines, Carson and Brandon Pieper of Nazareth, PA, Olivia, Jayce and Ella Johnston of Clemson, SC.  Three sisters: Beth Avitabile and her husband Al of Fort Myers, FL, Ruth Kern and her husband Dale of Naples, FL and Barbara Rauckman of Fort Myers, FL.  Five nieces and nephews: Randy Kern, Eric Kern, Keith Neruda, Diana Rauckman and Carolyn Gorman, as well as twelve great-nieces and great-nephews. She also served as a second mother to so many of her children’s best friends.
