Virginia Kelly Obituary


Virginia S. Kelly, 83, of Heathrow, FL passed away on January 4, 2020.  She was born on April 20, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY to Gaston and Mary Pechin.  She lived in NJ, with her late husband, Christopher F. Kelly, Jr., before retiring to Heathrow, FL more than 20 years ago.
 
Nothing was more important to Virginia than her family.  She was a wonderful, loving, and generous mother and grandmother.
Virginia loved animals, and was particularly fond of dogs, elephants, and manatees.  She also held a special place in heart for Veterans and contributed to numerous charities.  She was an avid reader of all genre, loved to watch Hallmark movies, enjoyed traveling, as well as online jigsaw puzzles, quilting and knitting.  Every year she knitted hundreds of hats and scarves for St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Manhattan, NY for distribution to those in need, as well as neo-natal baby hats for the Pregnancy Crisis Center in Sanford, FL. She loved being a member of the Heathrow R&R and Juliet Luncheon Clubs, and was very proud to have started the first Sjogren's Syndrome support group in Lake Mary, Florida.
 
Virginia was a member of All Souls Catholic Church in Sanford, FL and is survived by her sons Gregory Mactye of Milford, NJ; Douglas Mactye, Sr. and his wife Jeanmarie of Sanford, FL; Kevin Kelly and his wife Erin of Lebanon, NJ; daughter Susan Mactye of Lake Mary, FL; and her two grandchildren Douglas Mactye, II and Maeve Kelly.
 
Private services will take place in Lake Mary, FL and Lebanon, NJ.
