Akiko Decker Obituary

Akiko M. Decker, age 83, of Clinton Twp., NJ, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ. 

Akiko was born on September 3, 1942, in Keirun, Taiwan, to the late Suzuki Hanae. She moved to the United States of America in 1971 and has resided in Annandale, NJ, for the past 25 years. 

Akiko was the loving wife of Bert E. Decker. Married in July 1971, the two shared 54 years of marriage. 

Akiko worked in many occupations during her life, including as a bank teller, office manager, cosmetics saleswoman for Estee Lauder in Japan, and at a camera counter, where she met her husband. She then worked for AM Best and The Chubb Corporation as inadministrative for many years until her retirement.  

Akiko was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 40 years, serving in the Starlight Chapter #107 in Budd Lake, NJ, the Stewart Chapter #166 in High Bridge, NJ, and the Hobart Chapter #63 in High Bridge, NJ. She served as an officer in all three chapters. She was also a member of the Senior Group in Flemington, NJ, where she enjoyed teaching card making. 

In addition to teaching card making, Akiko enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and sewing. She was a true seamstress, even creating her own patterns to base her work on. 

In addition to her loving husband, Akiko is survived by her two brothers; Hideyuki and Koichi. One sister, Tostiko Yukitsu, and her niece and grandnieces. 

All services are private. 

Arrangements under the direction of Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home in Lebanon, NJ.
