Angelo Michael Riccardi, age 85, of Union Township, NJ, passed away on June 13, 2025, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.
He was born on March 8, 1940, in New York City, NY, to the late Gabriel and Dominica (Rabbene) Riccardi.
Angelo lived in Staten Island, NY, before moving to The Villages in Florida, where he spent many years. More recently, he resided in Union Township, NJ. His beloved wife, Loretta Ann (Cusumano) Riccardi, passed away in 2012. They had celebrated 50 years of marriage before her passing.
Angelo worked as an elevator starter at One Chase Plaza in Manhattan, NY, retiring from the bank in 2002. In addition he and his wife owned and operated a ceramics shop in Brooklyn, NY.
Angelo was very handy and enjoyed building and fixing things. He was a talented upholsterer by trade and completed projects in his home and for neighbors in his community. He also loved gardening and cultivated herb and produce gardens at his residences in Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Florida. He was passionate about cooking and frequently hosted meals for friends on the back patio of his home in Florida, often catering food for neighbors to ensure everyone was well fed.
Angelo was a dedicated volunteer with Meals on Wheels, bringing nourishment and kindness to homebound neighbors, and a proud member of the A.A. Fellowship, recently celebrating six years of sobriety and service.
He is survived by two sons: Michael and his partner, Michelle, of PA; and James and his wife, Marie, of Union Township, NJ. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren—Michael, Robert, Daniel, Ryan, Brianna, Nicholas, James II, Steven, Jonathan, and Danielle—and seven great-grandchildren: Sarah, Delilah, Juniper, Michaela, Polaris, Declan and Leo. He is also survived by his sister, Phyllis, of Long Island, NY.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 7:00–9:00 p.m. at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 2 White Bridge Road, Pittstown, NJ. Entombment will follow at Rural Hill Cemetery in Readington, NJ.
