Anna Romano

Anna Romano, age 92, of Clinton Twp., NJ passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ.

She was born on July 22, 1930 in Bojano, Italy.  She immigrated to the United States at age 17 and resided in Clinton Twp., NJ with her beloved husband for the past 37 years.

She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Mariantonia Pitoschia Chiovitti.

She was the wife of Gildo Romano Sr.  The couple were married on February 18, 1950 and were blessed to celebrate 72 years of marriage.

When Anna came to the United States, she worked as a seamstress.  She also worked on multiple farms as well as the family business ‘The Barn Door’ in Lebanon, NJ.  

Anna was passionate about her garden.  She enjoyed growing various fruits and vegetables and much of the time, everything their family ate came from their own farm.  She loved to cook, bake and spend time with her grandchildren.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Annandale, NJ where she was also involved with a prayer group and was a Rosarian.  She also enjoyed helping the Crossroads Church through her membership at Immaculate Conception.  Years ago, Anna was also a CCD teacher.  She loved being with children.

Survivors in addition to her loving husband include four sons; Antonio Romano of Daytona Beach, FL, Gildo Romano Jr. and his wife Karen of Clinton Twp., NJ, Mario J. Romano and his wife Virginia of Greer, SC and Michael C. Romano of Boulder, CO.  Four grandchildren; Amanda Lisa Romano and her fiancé Alex Trimm of Brooklyn, NY, Alexander David Romano of Denver, CO, Christina R. Romano of Greer, SC and Rachel Romano of Greer, SC.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by one sister; Carmela Liberta and one brother; John Chiovitti.  

Entombment will take place on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 12pm at Immaculate Conception Mausoleum, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ.  Arrangements by Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home in Lebanon, NJ.
