Barbara Hunt Obituary

Barbara Elizabeth Hunt, 75, of High Bridge, NJ, passed away on Thursday October 7, 2021 in her home surrounded by family.

She was born March 15, 1946 in North Plainfield, N.J. Barbara was the daughter of the late Gustave and Frieda (Lapinski) Hoffman. Barbara was of the Methodist faith and loved all wildlife and the outdoors. When younger, Barbara was a secretary and held various challenging roles until she embraced the role of “Mom” and caretaker. Along life’s journey, Barbara would regularly take in stray cats to either find a new home for a homeless pet or provide food and shelter at her residence. She also had a flair for creating crafts and often attended events to show off her talented hand.

Barbara loved planting flowers of all varieties as she saw beauty in just about everything. She sang and played the guitar to some of her favorite artists including The Everly Brothers, Johnny Cash, Elvis and the Statler Brothers, to name a few. Her wit was quick, which translated into her love for poetry where she authored several poems that were nationally published. However, Barbara’s greatest passion and purpose in life was to care for her daughter Melissa up until her passing in 2013. The everlasting bond between Barbara and Melissa was unmistakable to anyone that knew them. Barbara had a heart of a giant. Her legacy will always be how she cared for others unselfishly before her own needs. Her family loves her deeply and misses her spirit.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth H. and his wife Peggy of Alexandria, NJ and Donald A. Jr. and his wife Georgette of North Brunswick, NJ; a brother William Hoffman of Middlesex, NJ and four grandsons, Steven, David, Kenneth Jr. and Colton and her best friend /companion, Alan Foux.

She is predeceased by her brothers John Hoffman, Raymond Hoffman and her daughter Melissa E. Hunt whom died at the age of 34. Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lebanon.
