Bruce H. Baker Sr., age 89, of Bethlehem Twp., NJ passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ.
He was born on November 15, 1933 in Newark, NJ. He was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County.
He was the son of the late Ralph and Marion Stiles Baker.
His beloved wife, Evangeline P. Beam Baker, passed away in 2020 after 66 years of marriage.
Bruce was a US Army Veteran, serving from 1954 – 1956, stationed out of Fort Dix, NJ.
He worked for 25 years as a Traffic Manager for Wilson Products Plastic Company in Flemington, NJ. After his retirement with the Plastic Company, he worked as a Corrections Officer for the Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Office for 10 years.
Bruce was a lifetime member of the Clinton Elks.
He was passionate about antique cars. He loved going to Hershey and Carlisle for the antique car shows. He also loved collecting antique toys and going to flea markets where he also enjoyed selling his treasures. He enjoyed music, especially country music and would frequently play his guitar and sing with his wife. He also loved animals and enjoyed watching the wildlife in his yard.
Survivors include one daughter; Joyce L. Leather and her husband William of Bethlehem, PA. One granddaughter; Amanda Marie Leather of Williams Township, PA. Numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Predeceased in addition to his beloved wife include one son; Bruce H. Baker Jr. who passed away in 2018. Two brothers; Kenneth Baker and Louis Baker.
Calling hours will take place on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 2pm – 4pm. Funeral service will be Monday, September 11, 2023 at 11am. All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Clinton, NJ.
