Carol Ann Hartrum, age 80, of Clinton Twp., NJ passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at home.
She was born on March 22, 1941 in Scranton, PA. She spent her childhood in Scranton, before moving to Bound Brook, NJ and later to Hunterdon County. She lived in Clinton Twp. for over 50 years.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Eileen (Tigue) May.
Her beloved husband, Raymond ‘Wink’ ‘Whipper’ John Hartrum, passed away in December of 2019 after 60 years of marriage.
Carol was a Classification Officer at Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility in Annandale, NJ until her retirement.
Memberships include St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she was also a Eucharistic Minister.
Carol was one of the first Hunterdon Huskies Cheerleading Coaches. She was also very involved with the North Hunterdon Booster Club. Carol also enjoyed being on the Mountainview Youth Corrections bowling league.
Carol was very social and loved going out with friends. Her nickname at work was ‘Gabby’ because she loved to talk. She enjoyed going on many church trips including Broadway plays and cruises. She also loved animals and loved going camping. Most of all she loved her family and cherished time with her grandchildren. She was a ‘Mom to everyone’ and will always be remembered for being a very loving person.
Survivors include four children; Raymond of Port Charlotte, FL, Cynthia Etter and her husband Richard of Williams Twp., PA, Scott Hartrum and his wife Wendy of Palmer Twp., PA and Lori Bonner and her husband Rob of Clinton Twp., NJ. Seven grandchildren; Brett Etter, Chelsea Etter and her husband Gil, Bryce Etter, Miranda Yarnall, Jett Hartrum, Alison Hartrum and Shane Pierson. Brothers-in-law; Robert Haelig, Harold ‘Hap’ Hartrum and his wife Diana of Hampton, NJ and Albert ‘Boots’ Hartrum and his wife Bonnie of White Twp., NJ. Sister-in-law; Raetta Bate of High Bridge, NJ. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased in addition to her husband by two sisters; Margaret ‘Peggy’ Haelig and Marion Long.
Calling hours will be Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 3pm - 7pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 11am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 59 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ. Interment at Musconetcong Valley Cemetery in Hampton, NJ.
