Catherine E. Hendrickson

Catherine “Cathie” E. Hendrickson, age 86, of Bridgewater, New Jersey passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, Sunrise Assisted Living in Bridgewater, New Jersey.

She was born on February 5, 1938, in Staten Island, New York. She moved with her family to Readington Township in 1960.

She was the daughter of the late Nils Oscar and Catherine M. Crabb Hendrickson who predeceased her in 2002 and 1995, respectively. 

Ms. Hendrickson received her Associate Degree fromCentenary College for Women, a Bachelor in Science degree from Wagner College and her Master’s in Education from Rutgers University.  Focusing on special reading and with a strong love of children, she taught for over 30 years in the public school system before retiring to care for her parents.  

She was involved in many professional organizations, including the NJEA, SCEA, BREA, Kappa Delta Phi, and Phi Delta Capa.

She was an active member of the Round Valley United Methodist Church in Lebanon, New Jersey where she was also enjoyed attending Bible study. She also previously served onthe finance committee, ad council, staff parish relations committee and trustees. She enjoyed volunteering in the Cluttered Closet thrift shop and Loaves of Love food pantry.

Always with a biscuit for the neighborhood dogs, her love of animals was well known. Second only to her sense of style, Cathie was an individual who exhibited decorum. Believed in dressing her best for even the most routine of outings. 

Cathie enjoyed traveling, especially to faraway beaches or in the pages of a new book, and visited Bermuda as often as she could. Cathie was very artistic and loved arranging flowers. 

Survivors include many beloved friends and neighbors.  

Calling Hours will take place on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, from 10am to 11am at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home 26 Main St., Lebanon, NJ. Funeral service will follow at 11am at Round Valley United Methodist Church, 30 Main St., Lebanon, NJ. Private Interment will take place on Friday, November 29, 2024, at Ocean View Cemetery in Staten Island, NY. 

Memorials can be made through contributions to organizations that were important to Cathie including the Round Valley United Methodist Church, the Wounded Warrior Project, or White House Rescue Squad.
