Charlene Friedel

Charlene Friedel, age 76, of Clinton Twp., NJ passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ.

She was born on October 2, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA.  She spent her childhood in Union, NJ and resided in Clinton Twp. for the past 35 years.

She was the daughter of the late Charles and Stella (Oliveri) Wahl.

She married her husband, William L. Friedel on October 19th, 1969. They were married 39 years until William passed away in 2009.

Charlene worked in the Clinton Twp. School District as a Teacher’s Aide until her retirement.  Later, she enjoyed being a Crossing Guard in Lebanon Borough for several years. 

Charlene was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Whitehouse Station, NJ. Charlene also enjoyed singing as a member of the choir, frequently singing at Little Brook Nursing Home.  She also enjoyed helping with bingo at Rolling Hills Care Center. 

Charlene was an avid animal lover; having many dogs and cats. She also enjoyed spending time in her backyard by her beloved Koi pond feeding the fish and wild animals. 

Charlene is survived by her two sons and one daughter: W. Charles Friedel and his wife Jamie of Nazareth, PA and Justin Friedel and his wife Brittany of Bethlehem Twp., NJ and Victoria Dirmyer and her husband Matthew of Santa Fe, NM. Charlene is also survived by seven loving grandchildren: Peyton, Jackson, Axel, Wyatt, Stella, Duke and Cash, and her companion Ben Zimmer.

A Memorial Mass will take place on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 9:30am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 390 County Road 523, Whitehouse Station, NJ 08889.

Arrangements are under the direction of Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home in Lebanon, NJ.
