Dagmar Elisabeth Clancy, age 93, of Clinton, NJ passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Bethlehem, PA.
She was born on April 17, 1930 in Karlsruhe, Germany. She married her beloved husband, John Clancy, in 1954 in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1953. They lived for many years in Middlesex and resided in Clinton since 1965.
She was the daughter of the late Edmund and Liselotte Geiger Wiedemann.
Her husband, John Clancy, passed away in 1995 after 41 years of marriage.
While she was living in Germany, Dagmar worked as a Librarian on an Army base during the time her husband was in the military. In the United States, she worked as a Technical Translator for Bosch in Piscataway, NJ from 1976 to 1991. She also was a substitute teacher at North Hunterdon High School, teaching foreign language.
Memberships include St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in High Bridge, where she was a member since 1973.
Dagmar loved reading, playing the piano and singing.
Survivors include three sons; John Clancy of High Bridge, NJ, Stephen Clancy and his wife Eileen of Clinton, NJ and Michael Clancy of Mansfield Twp., NJ. One daughter; Maureen Plaisted and her husband Roger of Clinton, NJ. Five grandchildren; Roger Plaisted, Sean Plaisted, Jeffrey Plaisted and his wife Adriana, Haley Clancy and Ryan Clancy. Four great-grandchildren; Halee Plaisted, Olivia Plaisted, Tucker Plaisted and AvaJane Plaisted. She is also survived by two nephews and one niece.
Predeceased in addition to her husband by two sisters; Birgitt Schlichter who passed away in 1998 and Gudrun Speck who passed away in 2023.
Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 10am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 59 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ. Interment will be private.
