David P. Whitesell

David P. Whitesell, age 65, of Bridgewater, NJ passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born on August 1, 1957 in Raritan Twp., NJ.  He was a lifelong resident of Bridgewater, NJ.

He was the son of the late James A. Whitesell who passed away in 1999 and Vera Kepenach Whitesell who passed away in 2021.

He was the husband to Cynthia Collins Whitesell, celebrating 6 years of marriage.

Beginning at age 18, David worked for Richards Fuel Oil & Pools.  He enjoyed working on swimming pools over the years, and also worked for  Levco Pools in Hillsborough for several years.  In recent years, David started driving a school bus for Readington Twp.  School District and found a true passion in his job.  He loved the kids that he drove and they would lovingly call him ‘Mr. Dave’.

Memberships include the Bradley Gardens Volunteer Fire Company where he faithfully served his community for 47 years.  He was a Past Chief, Trustee, Fire Commissioner of Bridgewater District 2, President and also Head of the Relief Association of the fire company during all his years of service.  He was currently Vice President at his time of passing. 

David loved golf, camping, fishing and Harley Davidson motorcycles.  He loved baseball, especially the New York Yankees and the Somerset Patriots.  He also was an avid New York Giants fan and loved western movies.  He loved his two beloved dogs; Maggie and Roxy.  He will always be remembered for being willing to do anything to help anyone.  He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them more than anything.

Survivors in addition to his loving wife include his daughter; Ruby Ann Whitesell of Long Branch, NJ.  Four siblings; James A, Whitesell and his wife Amy of GA, Charlene M. Brookman and her husband John of Las Vegas, NV, Amy S. Blanchard and her husband Eric of FL and Wendy J. Hazard and her husband Jeff of SC.  Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who adored their Uncle Dave.  He is also survived by many extended fmaily and beloved friends and brother firemen. 

Predeceased in addition to his parents by one brother; Michael Whitesell who passed away in January of 2021. 

Fireman’s procession will begin at 2pm with Funeral Service taking place immediately after on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at the Bradley Gardens Fire Company, 24 Old York Road, Bridgewater, NJ.  Interment will be private. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home in Lebanon, NJ.
