Lt. Col. Delos Marion Pieper Ret., age 75, former resident of Readington Twp., NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Dominion Senior Living at Patrick Square in Clemson, SC.
He was born in Valmeyer, IL and he spent his childhood living on the family farm in Waterloo, IL.
He moved to Readington Twp., NJ in 1983 with his beloved wife.
He was the son of the late Armin Albert Pieper and Virginia Louise Stumpf Pieper.
His wife, Suzanne Seavey Pieper, passed away in 2019 after 50 years of marriage.
Delos was a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL.
As a proud Veteran, he served as a US Air Force pilot from 1969 to 1992 in Vietnam and Desert Storm.
Upon his military retirement, Delos spent many years as a Pilot for Continental Airlines. He worked hard to provide for and care for his family while enjoying his greatest passion of flying.
Memberships include the Readington Reformed Church, NRA, Quiet Birdman, ALPA (airline pilots union) and Host Lodge #6 F&AM in High Bridge, NJ.
He enjoyed traveling, woodworking and firearms. He was a DIY guy who loved working on projects and doing everything himself.
Survivors include three children, including Craig Pieper and his girlfriend Simone Criscio of Easton, PA and Christine Johnston and her husband Jason of Clemson, SC. Six grandchildren: James Pieper of Flemington, NJ, Carson and Brandon Pieper of Nazareth, PA, Olivia, Jayce and Ella Johnston of Clemson, SC. One brother; David Pieper of Anaheim Hills, CA. Nieces/nephew; Matthew Pieper, Megan Prescott and Sara Fernandez.
Calling hours will take place on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 4-8pm. Funeral service will be Monday, August 8, 2022 at 11am. All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment at Readington Reformed Church Cemetery.
