Donald Newman Black Jr.

Donald Newman Black Jr., age 69, of Phillipsburg, NJ passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital Anderson Campus in Easton, PA.

He was born on September 11, 1955 in Somerville, NJ.  He resided in Raritan, NJ for many years before moving to Florida where he lived with his beloved wife for many years.  He lived with his niece in Phillipsburg for the past five years.

He was the son of the late Donald N. Black Sr. and Helen ‘Joyce’ Phillips Black.

His loving wife, Kathy Kane Black, passed away in 2019. 

Donald had various jobs over the years including working at a paint factory, truck driving and working in maintenance at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Raritan, NJ.

Donald loved fishing, traveling and singing country music. 

Survivors include two sisters; Sharon Brandau and her husband Robert of Easton, PA and Joy ‘Sue’ Scarponi and her husband Robert of Bridgewater, NJ. Nieces and nephews; Denise L. Calhoun-Bell (Bill), Barbara Nuss, Robert Scarponi, Kevin Dale and Dorsey Calhoun Jr.  Great-nieces and nephews; Dawn Calhoun, Dylan Calhoun, Cheyenne Calhoun, Ian Nuss and Ivy Nuss.  Great-great nieces and nephews; Ayva Calhoun, Jewelia Murphy, Joscelyn Calhoun, Valencia Wright, Harlynn Davies and Delilah Calhoun.  Two stepsons; Joseph Petruzzi and Daniel Petruzzi. 

Predeceased in addition to his wife by his half-brother Reggie Bishop and one great-great nephew; Dyllan Calhoun Jr. 

Calling hours will take place on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 2-4pm with Memorial Service at 4pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ.  Interment will be private.
