Donald Hockenbury Obituary

Donald G. Hockenbury, age 82, long-time resident of High Bridge, NJ passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ.

He was born on November 23, 1939 in Chester, PA.  He resided in High Bridge, NJ for most of his life.

He was the son of the late Luther and Grace E. Hockenbury.

Donald was a graduate of High Bridge High School. 

He worked for most of his career as a Farmer at the Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility in Annandale, NJ. 

He was a member of the Liberty Hose Fire Company in High Bridge, NJ from 1964 to 1977.

Donald loved hunting, fishing and bowling.  He also enjoyed sports and especially loved attending local High School sporting events.  He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed watching the New York Yankees.  One of his favorite pastimes was feeding the seagulls at the Walmart parking lot and could be frequently found there on most mornings.

Survivors include two daughters; Coti Newman and her husband Jim of Glen Gardner, NJ and Debra VanNatta of Clinton, NJ.  Four grandchildren; James ‘JP’ Newman Jr. of Lebanon Twp., NJ, Bradley Newman of Lebanon Twp., NJ, Stacey Ryan and her husband Chris of Somerset, NJ and Shane VanNatta of Clinton, NJ.  One great-granddaughter; Olivia Ryan and one great-grandson on-the-way.  He is also survived by one brother; Robert Hockenbury and his wife Elaine of York, PA.

Predeceased by one brother; Charles Hockenbury. 

All services will be private.
