Dorothy “Dotty” (nee Katon) Hoeflinger of Clinton Twp., New Jersey passed away on March 3, 2025 at the age of 77. Born on October 28, 1947 in Falls Church, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (nee Ervin) Katon.
Dotty was raised in Falls Church, Virginia; attended James Madison University; and relocated to New Jersey in 1976. She worked as an organist and piano teacher, and led a church bell choir. Dotty was an avid bowler and competitive shooter, and enjoyed time spent with her family, friends, and community.
Dotty was preceded in death by her parents William and Margaret Katon; husband, Helmut Hoeflinger; brother John Katon and sister Joan Clarke. She is survived by her brother Jay (Lee) Katon; sons Chris (Jessie) Bauer and Gene (Sarah) Bauer; and granddaughters Edie and Lily Bauer. Late in life Dotty learned, through the wonders of modern technology, that she had actually been adopted as a young child. She was delighted to get to know several previously unknown siblings and to have the opportunity to learn about their lives.
Family will be planning a private memorial in the coming weeks.
Arrangements by Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home in Lebanon, NJ.
