Dorothy 'Dottie' G. Munro

Dorothy “Dottie” G. Munro passed away peacefully on September 11, 2023, in her home.  She was 90 and resided in the Cokesbury section of Clinton Township, NJ since 1983.

Born in Plainfield, NJ, she was the daughter of the late A. Harry Munro and the late Alice E. Munro of North Plainfield, NJ.  She graduated from North Plainfield High School with the class of 1951.

Dottie enjoyed the outdoor life, especially dining outdoors.  Her hobby was taking photos of her family and friends. She has a large collection of those pictures, arranged in over 75 albums.

Dottie was the manager of office services for the former Lockheed Electronics Company (LEC) in Watchung, NJ.  She was employed by LEC for 39 years and retired upon LEC closing in 1990.  She was president of the Lockheed Stardusters Social Club for 8 years. 

Dottie is survived by her sister Betty Stillwell of Nottingham, Maryland, nieces Linda Stillwell of Nottingham, Maryland and Susan Hall of  Branchburg, New Jersey, and nephew David Stillwell (Nobu) of Long Beach, California, and several grand nieces and nephews.  In addition, she leaves friends Andrew, Tia, Lindsey and Cameron Holt, whom she cherished.

Dottie also cherished memories made with spending time with all her recent and longtime friends. Dottie’s favorite pastime was joining her friends for lunch at restaurants that had tablecloths.  She gave up cooking long ago.  A plaque in her kitchen reads “I only have a kitchen because it came with the house”.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 10am-11am with Funeral Service at 11am at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ.  Interment at Hillside Cemetery, 1401 Woodland Avenue, Scotch Plains, NJ.
