Kenneth P. Wolski, MD, of Carversville, PA died on May 30, 2023. He grew up on the Southwest Side of Chicago. He was granted his BS from Loyola University, Chicago; his MD from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and did his internship, residency in Internal Medicine, and fellowship in Rheumatology at Northwestern. He spent 38 years in the pharmaceutical industry conducting and supervising clinical research in new chemicals and proteins. He viewed this as his life’s work and he loved every minute of it.
Outside of clinical research, he had a passion for opera and music and a fascination with mechanical watches. Ken loved traveling throughout the world and savoring new culinary and cultural experiences. He took great joy in caring for the many cats he and his wife adopted over the years. He was happy as a clam at high tide when telling stories about his life’s adventures.
In typical Ken fashion, he wrote and especially wished for these words to be shared upon his passing: “The sweet joys and the painful struggles of my life are over. I was lucky enough to do or supervise pharmaceutical clinical research on every continent in the world except Antarctica, and to spend close to 10 years of my life living and working in Japan and various Western European countries. This experience made me a better man. My only advice to those who follow me is to recognize that no one truly knows the unseen devils and pain that every person silently fights every day of their lives. I was an extremely lucky man because my loved ones let me live the life I wanted to live, to help populations of people rather than one person at a time get better or well because of the work I chose.”
He is survived by his gentle, understanding and loving wife of 37 years, Johanna; his two children Ben Wolski and Pam (Brian) Mutschler, grandchildren Annabelle and Emerson; sister Pam (Dick) Winchell; and nieces Katie (Mike) Frisco and Megan (Neil) Baril.
The memorial service will be private. The family asks that any donations be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
