Eileen Mary Schuetz

Eileen Mary Schuetz, age 77, of High Bridge, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 18, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family. Born on June 19, 1949, in Lakewood, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Francis Bentz and Mary Cooley Bentz. She spent her childhood in Morrisville, PA and her summers in Surf City, NJ.

Eileen graduated from Morrisville High School in 1967. She received a BS degree from Immaculata University and then went on to receive her masters from Trenton State College in education. Eileen taught reading to students in the Trenton Public Schools for several years before starting a family with the love of her life, Alan.  In the early 2000s, she worked in the Polytech Wee Vikes program at Voorhees High School.  Eileen devoted her life to nurturing the next generation.

In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her sisters, Jane Atesoglu and Mary Stratton, and her brothers, Frank Bentz and John Bentz, and her aunts, Alice and Rita Cooley.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Alan Schuetz, her children, Alan Schuetz Jr. (Keri), Michael Schuetz (Lori), Karen Schuetz (Don), and Jennifer Torcivia (Pete). She held a special place in her heart for her nine grandchildren whom she adored. They are Ella Schuetz, Abigail Torcivia, Emma Torcivia, Avery Schuetz, Alaina Banta, Tyler Schuetz, Sam Torcivia, Dylan Schuetz and Max Torcivia. Also, her sister, Anne Maco, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended relatives.

Eileen loved hosting family parties throughout the year. During the pandemic she enjoyed planning the outdoor Easter and Halloween parties. Sewing, crafting, knitting and reading were some of the activities that kept her busy. After she and Alan retired they enjoyed road trips and cruising. Eileen’s favorite thing was being “Oma” to her nine grandchildren and “Mom” to her four children. She always had a child on her lap, reading books to them, singing songs, baking and teaching them to sew and knit. She was their biggest supporter and cheerleader.

Eileen had a steady and calming presence and made everyone feel welcome. She will be missed beyond words.

Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 10am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 59 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ. Entombment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleum, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ.
