George Erdek Obituary

George L. Erdek, age 92, of Hampton, NJ passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at home.

He was born on January 27, 1932 in Somerville, NJ.  He spent his childhood in Manville, NJ and resided in Hampton, NJ since 1966.

He was the son of the late George and Matilda Pitinsky Erdek.

His beloved wife, Jean Post Erdek, passed away in 2019 after 65 years of marriage.

George was a US Marine Corps Veteran serving during the Korean War. 

He graduated from Bound Brook High School and also studied photography at Rochester Institute of Technology. 

George worked as a photographer for Johns Manville for over 20 years then he went to work for AT&T and Lucent Technologies until his retirement in 1995.

George loved reading, fishing, and various sports, including motocross and going to the races with his sons.  He also enjoyed going to the casino especially years ago with his wife.  He will always be remembered for being very sharp and having a remarkable memory. 

Survivors include three sons; George Erdek and his wife Robin of Easton, PA, Brian Erdek of Califon, NJ and Thomas Erdek and his wife Michelle of Bloomsbury, NJ. One daughter; Cynthia Joyce and her husband Paul of Delmar, DE.  Five grandchildren; Heather Wallace and her husband Ty of Jim Thorpe, PA, Kaytee Joyce of Los Angeles, CA, Holly Gruenewald and her husband Billy of Bethlehem, PA, Lindsay Erdek of Califon, NJ, and Mia Morgado of East Brunswick, NJ.  Three great-grandchildren; Ryder Wallace, Lydia Wallace and Enoch Gruenewald.

Predeceased by one daughter; Lisa Erdek Morgado who passed away in 2020 and one son; George Vincent Erdek who passed away in 1954.  One grandson; Brian A. Erdek who passed away in 2023. He is also predeceased by his daughter-in-law; Kelly Webb.  Two siblings; Joseph Erdek and Donald Erdek. 

All services will be private.
