George Mattis Obituary

George Donald Mattis, age 76, of Easton, PA passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020 at home.

He was born on July 17, 1943 in Readington Twp., NJ.  He resided in Easton, PA for the past 30 years, moving from High Bridge, NJ.

He was the son of the late George Donald Mattis and LaVera Prine Perks.

George was the husband of Wanda Joyce Shaw Mattis, celebrating 52 years of marriage.

George was a Truck Driver for Fox Lumber in Clinton, NJ until his retirement in 2005.

He was a member of ‘The Moose’ in Allentown, PA.

He was an avid racing fan and loved watching the races.  He also enjoyed bingo, camping and bowling.

Survivors in addition to his loving wife include one daughter; Georgia Gerry and her husband Roger of Phillipsburg, NJ.  Three sons; Thomas Mattis and his wife Kristin of Williams Twp., PA, George Mattis III and his husband Ray of Jersey City, NJ and Brandon Mattis and his wife Kim of Forks Twp., PA.  Five grandchildren; Brandon Todd, Sarah Stratton, Emily Stratton, Alyssa Mattis and Thomas Mattis Jr.  He is also survived by one brother; Theodore Hockenbury of CO and one sister; Constance Mountain of SC.  

Due to increasing health concerns and restrictions, a memorial service will be planned at High Bridge United Methodist Church in High Bridge, NJ at a future date.

Memorials can be made in George’s name to High Bridge United Methodist Church, 40 Church Street, High Bridge, NJ 08829.
