Grace Marie Longordo, a beloved resident of Raritan, NJ, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the age of 97. She spent nearly her entire life in the town she called home and was born there on September 27, 1926, to her parents, the late Anthony and Jennie Giasullo Scarponi.
Grace was deeply devoted to her family and was united in matrimony with her cherished husband, John Longordo, for 62 years until his passing in 2013. Throughout her career, she worked diligently at J&J in Raritan, NJ, where she made lasting friendships before retiring. Grace was also a devout member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Raritan, NJ.
Among her many passions, Grace found immense joy in spending quality time with her loved ones. Her warm smile and loving nature made gatherings with her family truly special. Additionally, Grace was a skilled knitter and crocheter, creating beautiful works of art, and her culinary skills were renowned by all fortunate enough to taste her creations.
Grace is survived by her three adoring children: Patricia Longordo of Rahway, NJ; Barbara Denlinger and her husband William of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and Anthony Longordo of Raritan, NJ. She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Noelle Denlinger and her husband Joseph Kneisser of Jupiter, FL; Natalie Hahn of New York, NY; Chuckie Wry of SD; and John Longordo of St. Augustine, FL. Her legacy continues through her three great-grandsons: Matthew Hahn, Joseph Kneisser, and Benjamin Kneisser.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, John Longordo, and her daughter, Kathleen Wry Higgins. She was also preceded by her beloved granddaughter, Gracie Wry, and her dear brother, Frank Scarponi.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the calling hours, which will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 4-6pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. A Funeral Mass in memory of Grace will take place on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 10am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 16 E. Somerset Street, Raritan, NJ. Following the Mass, Grace will be laid to rest at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Bridgewater, NJ.
