Harmon Henry Lookhoff, age 83, of Clinton Twp., NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Country Arch Care Center in Pittstown, NJ.
Harmon was born on October 31, 1942, in Pahokee, FL, to the late Warren Lookhoff and Claudia Jackson Gainey. He grew up in Daytona, FL, and graduated from high school in Jacksonville, FL. After 3 years in the army, he moved to Chicago and started college.
Harmon was the beloved husband of Kathleen Maass Lookhoff, with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Harmon was an attorney, having graduated from Rutgers Law School. He started his career working for firms in New Brunswick and Montclair before starting his own firm in Plainfield, NJ.
While living in Plainfield, NJ, he was a member of the Plainfield chapter of the Lions and served on the city economic development counsel. In 1987 the family and law practice moved to ClintonTownship. He became a member of the Elks in Flemington, NJ, and of the Flemington YMCA, where he was involved with the Indian Guides. Other memberships Harmon took part in include Gem Vac Veterans, Sierra Club, and the MENSA organization. Harmon also volunteered with Friends of the Loew’s, helping restore the Loew’sJersey Theatre in Jersey City, NJ.
In addition to his time volunteering, Harmon enjoyed riding his motorcycle and working in the yard.
In addition to his loving wife, Harmon is survived by his two children, Melanie Lookhoff of Annandale, NJ, and James Lookhoff and his partner, Shannon Kotch, of Brodheadsville, PA. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Anaya Lookhoff.
