Harriet ‘Peg’ Amelia Carr, age 99, of Clinton Township, NJ died peacefully on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Country Arch Care Center in Pittstown, NJ.
She was born on August 28, 1922, in Califon, NJ. Peg spent most of her life in High Bridge and Annandale.
She was the daughter of the late Russell and Mattie Apgar Watters.
Her husband, Kenneth Carr, died in 2010 after 69 years of marriage.
She was a graduate of High Bridge High School.
Peg was employed for many years at the Loskot-Groendyke Insurance Agency, High Bridge, NJ and later retired from the Clinton Township Clerk’s Office.
She volunteered at the Hunterdon Medical Center Thrift Shop in Flemington, NJ and the Joseph Turner House Museum of the Union Forge Heritage Association.
Peg enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, re-finishing furniture and taking impeccable care of her home. She was a remarkable seamstress, becoming widely known for the collectible teddy bears she and Ken created together.
Peg is survived by her son, Wayne Carr and his wife Frances of Willow Street, PA. Two grandchildren; Laura Seese of East Granby, CT and Eric Carr and his wife Alina of Middletown, DE. Two great-grandchildren; Madison Elizabeth Carr and Sydney Amelia Carr. She is also survived by many amazing friends who have been an integral part of her life and have become like family to her.
Calling hour will take place on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, from 10am – 11am with funeral service at 11am. All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment will immediately follow at Lower Valley Cemetery in Califon, NJ.
