Helen Marie Pappas

Helen Marie Pappas, age 95, formerly of Lebanon Borough, NJ passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025 at her residence in Ellicott City, MD.

Helen was born on August 24, 1929 in New York City.  She spent her childhood in Astoria, Queens and as an adult moved to Glen Head, Long Island where she raised her family.  After retiring, she resided in Lebanon Borough, NJ for many years before moving to Ellicott City, MD.

She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Helen (Theesen) Kuljanich. 

Her beloved husband, Christopher Pappas passed away in 1998.

One of Helen’s greatest pleasures in life was her position as head secretary for the Glenwood Landing Elementary school in Glenwood Landing, NY.  She adored working with the children and was a “grandmother” to all.  This job brought her great joy in her working years..

Helen continued to be active in her retirement.  While living in Lebanon Borough she was active in the Lebanon Seniors Club and was a Challenger on election days for the town.  She also volunteered at Hunterdon Medical Center and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Oldwick, NJ. 

Survivors include two children; Lorraine Mitchell and her husband John of MD and Christopher Pappas and his wife Laura of NJ, three grandchildren; Ian Mitchell (Sherrie), Wade Mitchell (Ayana)and Jenna Pappas Also surviving are .  five great grandchildren. 

All services will be held privately.

Arrangements are under the direction of Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home in Lebanon, NJ.
