Helmut M. Hoeflinger, age 80, of Clinton Twp., NJ passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022 at home.
He was born on May 20, 1942 in Weimar, Germany. He came to the United States when he was 10 years old and lived for many years in Butler, NJ. He resided with his wife in Clinton Twp., NJ for the past 16 years.
He was the son of the late Michael and Elizabeth Straub Hoeflinger.
He was the husband of Dorothy Katon Hoeflinger, celebrating 16 years of marriage.
He was a US Air Force Veteran, serving from 1962 to 1968. During his military service, Helmut discovered his passion for competitive shooting. A hobby which he continued throughout his life, and he was former President of the Northern NJ Police Revolver League.
Helmut worked as an Electronics Technician for Roche Pharmaceuticals in Nutley, NJ until his retirement.
Memberships include the American Legion.
Helmut will always be remembered for being strong and having unlimited energy. He loved fixing things and spending time in his garage. He also enjoyed photography and astronomy. Most of all, Helmut loved being an American. He talked about it often and was truly passionate about our country.
Survivors in addition to his loving wife include one son; Tyson Hoeflinger and his wife Kimberly of Hightstown, NJ. Two granddaughters; Mackenzie Hoeflinger and Meredith Hoeflinger. Two sisters; Betty Coralluzo of Butler, NJ and Kitty Esch of Berlin.
Predeceased by his beloved brother; Manfred Hoeflinger.
A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 2pm to 6pm at the American Legion, 1 Ridge Road, Whitehouse Station, NJ.
