Jacob 'Jay' A. Cole Sr.

Jacob ‘Jay’ A. Cole Sr., age 78, of High Bridge, NJ passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 24, 1944 in Somerville, NJ.  He was a lifelong resident of High Bridge, NJ.

He was the son of the late Ralph and Elizabeth Wyhuskey Cole.

Jay was the husband of Judith L. Subbe Cole, celebrating 57 years of marriage.

He was a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Hunterdon County Road Department until his retirement in 2005.

Memberships include St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in High Bridge, NJ.

Jay was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed fishing and spending time in nature and sightseeing.  He loved traveling, especially going on fishing trips with his sons to Maine.  Most of all, Jay loved his family and loved spending time with them.

Survivors in addition to his loving wife include three children; Kimberly Peoni and her husband Frederick of Washington, NJ, Jacob A. Cole Jr. and his wife Donna of High Bridge, NJ and Kevin Cole and his longtime partner Karen Lacsina of Clinton, NJ.  Eight grandchildren; Joseph Peoni and his wife Joelle, Nicole Kocher and her husband Derek, Vincent Peoni, Kaitlin Peoni, Ashley Pietro, Adam Cole, Alex Cole and Zach Ambas.  

Predeceased by two brothers; Ralph Cole and George Cole.

Calling hours will take place on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 2-5pm at Naughright-Scarponi Funeral Home, 66 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ.  Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 10am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 59 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ.  Entombment at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleum in Annandale, NJ.
