James Henry Bonis

James ‘Dick’ Henry Bonis, age 93, of Belvidere, NJ passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital Warren Campus in Phillipsburg, NJ.

He was born on April 12, 1929 in Metuchen, NJ.  He spent his childhood in Metuchen and resided in Clinton Twp. for 54 years before moving to Belvidere 6 years ago.

He was the son of the late James Henry Bonis Sr. and Caroline Schmidt Bonis.

He was the husband of Barbara Oliver Bonis, celebrating 64 years of marriage.

Dick was a US Army Veteran, serving from 1951 to 1953.

He was a Service Manager for several car dealerships including Miller Pontiac Cadillac in Rahway, NJ.  He later worked as a Service Manager for C.P.O. Oil in Rahway, NJ until his retirement. 

He was a past member of the Round Valley United Methodist Church in Lebanon, NJ.

Dick was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was also a Civil War buff.  He adored his dogs.

Survivors in addition to his loving wife include one son; Peter J. Bonis of Glen Gardner, NJ.  Several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by one brother; Raymond Bonis and one sister; Caroline Yaros.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11am at Round Valley United Methodist Church, 30 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ.  Interment will be private.

Arrangements are under the direction of Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home in Lebanon, NJ.
