James Anthony Colognato Sr.

James Anthony Colognato Sr., age 73, of Clinton, NJ passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ.

He was born on January 12, 1949 in Somerville, NJ and was a lifelong resident of Clinton.

He was the son of the late Anthony Eugene and Dorothy Fern Scott Colognato.

He was the husband of Kathleen Ann Wilkens Colognato, celebrating 54 years of marriage.

For 42 years, James was the owner/operator of Clinton Amoco.  James loved being a mechanic.  Even after his retirement 8 years ago, he could still be found in the garage restoring his 1960 corvette. 

Memberships include the Clinton Fire Department where he was also past Chief.

He was also a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

James loved being with his family.  He adored his children and grandchildren.

Survivors in addition to his loving wife include one daughter; Holly Czaplinski and her husband Kevin of Setauket, NY and one son; James ‘Jim’ Anthony Colognato Jr. of Emmaus, PA.  Four grandchildren; Dylan Colognato, Quinn Colognato, Lily Czaplinski and Chloe Czaplinski.  One sister; Joan Elizabeth Colognato of Annandale, NJ.  He is also survived by his beloved grand-dogs; Lila and Julie.

Calling hours will take place on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 6-8pm and also Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 2-4pm with funeral prayers at 3:30pm.  All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ.  Interment will be private.
