James V. Hagen, of High Bridge, NJ died suddenly on Friday, February 21, 2020. He was a lifelong resident of High Bridge.
He was the devoted son of Henry W. Hagen of High Bridge and the late Elizabeth J. Hagen who passed away in 2018.
Jim was a graduate of High Bridge High School and attended Tusculum University in Tennessee. He owned and operated his own hardwood flooring business for many years.
Jim enjoyed playing golf, fishing and playing pool in the Hunterdon County Pool League. He loved sports and was an avid fan of the NY Giants and NY Yankees. He also loved to read and watch Jeopardy. Most of all Jim loved to spend time with his family, his many friends and his dog Gus. He will be missed for his quick wit, sense of humor and epic stories.
Survivors in addition to his father include his significant other of 28 years, Kathy S. Petty. His brothers; Edward W. Hagen and his wife Susan of Indialantic, FL, Patrick J. Hagen of Forks Twp., PA, Thomas P. Hagen of High Bridge, NJ, and his sister, Maureen A. Hagen and her husband Neil Stoddard of Hopkinton, MA. Four nephews; Justin Hagen, Brian Hagen and his wife Lauren, Ian Stoddard and Connor Hagen and one niece, Katherine Stoddard. Two great-nieces and one great-nephew. He is also survived by many beloved cousins.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, February 28, 2020 from 4pm – 9pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 9:30am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 59 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ. A reception will follow at the VFW in Glen Gardner, NJ. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in Jim’s name may sent to The Humane Society or the ASPCA.
