Janice ‘Jan’ Betty Housel, age 97, of Eastampton Twp., NJ, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, NJ.
Jan was born on July 5, 1928, to the late Eldred and Sallie (Sumner) Campbell in Floyd, VA. She spent her childhood in Virginia before moving to Lebanon, NJ and Clinton, NJ, where she resided for over 70 years. In 2021, she moved to Mount Holly, NJ, where she has resided up until her passing.
Jan was the wife of the late Charles Housel. Married in 1947, they celebrated 74 years of marriage together before Charles’ passing in 2021.
Jan worked as a telephone operator before becoming a cafeteria manager in Union Twp., NJ.
Jan was a long-time member of Clinton United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Stewart Chapter No. 166 of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 60 years.
Jan loved sewing. She also enjoyed working on crafts and puzzles.
Jan is survived by her two children: Charles Terry Housel and his wife, Denise, of Perry, GA, and Sherry Milisivana of Mount Holly, NJ. Two grandchildren: Michael Milisivana and his wife, Lisa, of Westhampton Twp., NJ, and Tammara Shipes and her husband, Erik, of Perry, GA. Three great-grandchildren: Jack Milisivana, Nick Milisivana, and Clara Shipes. Two brothers: Barry Campbell of Milford, NJ. Sister-in-law; Eleanor Campbell of Marathon, FL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews .
In addition to her husband, Jan is predeceased by her son-in-law, Paul Milisivana, her brother; William ‘Jack’ Campbell and sister-in-law, Vilma Campbell.
Viewing will take place on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 10 am to 11 am, followed by a funeral service at 11 am with Eastern Star Services. All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Clinton, NJ.
