Jason Mavus Obituary

Jason Matthew Mavus, age 15, of High Bridge, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. 

Jason was born on September 9, 2010 in Flemington, NJ. He was the beloved son of Christopher and Dawn (Mavus) Buck. For over 10 years, he resided in High Bridge, NJ with his family, and was a freshman at Voorhees High School in Glen Gardner, NJ. 

Jason was intelligent, creative, kind, and beloved by many. He was a multi-talented athlete, enjoying baseball, soccer, biking, and basketball, which he was most passionate about. He was an avid-gamer, having created an intricate gaming set up for himself in hopes of becoming a pro gamer in the future. He was artistic and expressed interest in multiple subjects. One of his favorite subjects was learning languages through Duolingo. Even while he was in the hospital and not able to physically attend school, Jason enrolled himself in online classes in marine biology and astrophysics. Jason was known for his great style, having been voted “Best Dressed” and “Best Hair” in 8th Grade. He was an avid sneaker collector and foodie. Above all, Jason loved his friends dearly and treasured his time spent with them. 

In addition to his loving parents, Jason is survived by his siblings, Axel Buck, Bailey Buck, and his sister on the way, Beatrice Buck. His grandparents: Lester and Mary Beth Mavus of Flemington, NJ; Jimmie and Eileen Buck of Perkasie, PA; and Vicki and Robert Kanaby of Conway, SC. His aunts and uncles: Les and Lyss of Upper Black Eddy, PA; Jonathan Hubert of Scranton, PA; Byran and Sarah Hubert of Conway, SC; and Brandon Buck of Wilkes Barre, PA. He is also survived by many beloved cousins and friends. 

Viewing will take place on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 1-4pm, followed by a funeral service at 4pm, all at Naughtright-Scarponi Funeral Home, 66 Main St., High Bridge, NJ. Interment will be private.
