Jeremiah ‘Jerry’ G. Ford Jr., age 71, of Glen Gardner, NJ passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital - Anderson Campus in Easton, PA.
He was born on November 22, 1952 in Summit, NJ. He spent his childhood in Madison, NJ, Rutland, VT and Roseland, NJ. He lived in High Bridge, NJ for many years before moving to Glen Gardner, NJ in 1995.
He was the son of the late Jeremiah G. Ford Sr. and Joan Leahy Ford.
His beloved wife, Barbara C. (Singleton) Cahill-Ford, passed away in 2010 after 25 years of marriage.
Jerry was a graduate of Our Lady of the Valley High School in West Orange, NJ. He later earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Montclair State University.
Jerry was an entrepreneur founding and selling two transportation companies, Amwell Valley and Tri J Coach, he was also instrumental in the development and implementation of Hunterdon County’s LINK system. Jerry retired as a Transport Coordinator for Delaware Valley Regional School System in 2022 and immediately went back to work for South Orange-Maplewood School District, where he was currently employed.
Memberships include numerous ski clubs in the area as Jerry was passionate about skiing. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and a member of the STS ROADEO organization. Over the years, Jerry was also a professional referee for soccer and lacrosse.
In addition to skiing, Jerry also loved bike riding and enjoyed riding his bike at the beach.
Survivors include three sons; Scott Cahill and his wife Jessica of Clinton Twp., NJ, Marc Cahill and his wife Natalie Shafer of Union Twp., NJ and Christopher Cahill and his wife Nicole of Lopatcong Twp., NJ. Five grandchildren; Brayden Cahill, Brooke Cahill, Brynlee Cahill, Cole Shafer and Ella Shafer. Three siblings; Margaretellen Price and her husband Alexander of Rockaway Twp., NJ, Joseph James ‘Jim’ Ford and his wife Carol of Lebanon, NJ and John Ford and his wife Mary of Lynn, MA. Nieces and nephews; Joan Moore (Justin), Alexander Price Jr., Joseph Ford (Wendy Fraguela), Jacqueline Solt (Ryan), Corey Ford (Adrienne). He is also survived by his great-niece; Ava Ford.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 12:30pm at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 398 County Road 513, Califon, NJ. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Cokesbury, NJ.
