Joan E. Palumbo, of Easton, PA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on February 17, 1945, in Newark, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Tess Kostecki.
She resided in Easton, PA with her granddaughter, Nicolle, for the past 6 years, moving from Delaware. Prior to that, she resided in Bridgewater and Clinton township.
She is predeceased by her first husband, Robert J Kennedy, of thirty three years, who passed away in 1996 and her second husband, Nunzio Palumbo, who passed away in 2020. She is also predeceased by her granddaughter, Angelina Marie Kennedy who passed away in 2007.
She is survived by her three children: Barbara Murphy and her husband Sean, Robert Kennedy Jr. and his wife Jennifer, and Kristin Geiger and her husband Jason.
She was the proud grandmother of Nicolle Jarvis and her husband Justin, Christian, Declan, Grace, Ryan, Clare, and RJ. Great-grandchildren; Tessa, Gavin, and Harrison.
Joan is also survived by her siblings, Gloria Richter and Joseph Kostecki.
Joan found joy in life's simple pleasures—spending time with family and friends, tending to her garden, traveling to new places, and enjoying cruises with loved ones. She adored her dogs, Lucy and Molly, who brought her endless happiness. She was a loyal fan of the New York Giants.
For many years, Joan was a dedicated Eucharistic minister at St. Jude the Apostle in Lewes, DE and was active in her faith community.
Family and friends will remember Joan for her unwavering love, kindness, generosity, and the strength she showed throughout her life.
Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 10am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Clinton, NJ.
Arrangements are under the direction of Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home in Lebanon, NJ.
