Joan Diane Shaffer

Joan Shaffer, age 80, of Tewksbury Twp., NJ passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at home with her loving family by her side.

Joan was born on December 2, 1941 in Morristown, NJ, grew up in New Vernon, NJ and settled in Califon, NJ with her husband Jay where they raised their family.

She was the daughter of the late Donald and Robina Morton Pollitt.

Her husband, Jay Shaffer, passed away in 2009 after 49 years of marriage.

Joan was a Telecom Analyst for Beneficial Corporation in Peapack, NJ until her retirement.  She loved life and lived it to its’ fullest.   She was an avid gardener, loved to fish, knit, crochet, and needlepoint, and most especially loved spending time with her family.   One of her favorite pastimes was travelling all over going to watch her grandchildren play sports.   Joan had a wonderful sense of humor and a joyful and generous spirit.   She loved to find ways to pay it forward any way possible and was a long-time supporter of Operation Smile, her favorite charity.

She is survived by her daughters; Sherry Cameron of Califon, NJ and Linda Gutkind and her husband Neil of Long Valley, NJ.  Five grandchildren; Melissa, Erin, Michael, Emma-Leigh and Ryleigh and great-granddaughter; Reagan. 

Predeceased in addition to her husband by one brother; Donald Pollitt, and son-in-law James Cameron. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held to honor Joan and her Wonderful life on:

Friday, November 25th at 3:00pm for Service with Repass to immediately follow.
