John Hachtmann Obituary

John William Hachtmann, age 81, of Palmer Twp., PA passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at home.

He was born on July 12, 1939 in Morristown, NJ.  He was a long-time resident of High Bridge, NJ before moving in with his son 20 years ago.

He was the son of the late John Irving Hachtmann IV and Olive Garland Hachtmann. 

He was the husband of Barbara Ann Egerter Hachtmann, celebrating 62 years of marriage.

John worked for many years as a Meat Manager at the A&P in Washington, NJ and Clinton, NJ before his retirement. 

John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.  His biggest passion in life were his grandchildren who he adored.  He loved attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events. 

Memberships include past member of the High Bridge Fire Department and High Bridge Rescue Squad where he was Past Captain. 

Survivors in addition to his loving wife include two sons; Mark S. Hachtmann of Palmer Twp., PA and Jonathan David Hachtmann of Belvidere, NJ.  Two daughters; Robin Hartrum and her husband Albert of Easton, PA and Pamela Hachtmann of Palmer Twp., PA.  Six grandchildren; Justin Hartrum and his wife Sarah, Jeremy Hartrum and his fiancé Rachel, Jenna Hartrum, Jessica Krecker and her husband Nicholas, Jacob Hachtmann and Morgan Hachtmann.  Seven great-grandchildren; Katie, Mason, Ryan, Brianna, Elijah, Jase and Bria.  He is also survived by one brother; Jim Hachtmann and his wife Metta of Lebanon Twp., NJ.  One sister; Eleanor Donatelli and her husband Ken of Lebanon, NJ. 

Calling hours will take place on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.  Funeral Service will be Friday, July 9, 2021 at 11am.  All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ.  Interment will follow at Belvidere Cemetery, 161 Pequest Road, Belvidere, NJ.
