John C. Hoover Sr.

John C. Hoover Sr., age 73, of Califon, NJ passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Little Brook Nursing Home in Califon, NJ.

He was born on April 24, 1949 in Somerville, NJ.  He was a life-long resident of the Califon area.

He was the son of the late Grover and Nellie Beam Hoover.

His wife, Cindy Jacqueline Hoover, passed away in February of 2022 after 48 years of marriage.

John was an Equipment Operator for the New Jersey Department of Transportation until his retirement in 2008.

Memberships include Lower Valley Presbyterian Church in Califon, NJ where he attended church as a child.  More recently, he was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Annandale, NJ.  He was also a past member of the Califon Fire Company.

John was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved hunting and fishing. 

Survivors include his brother; Willard Hoover and his wife Shiela of Califon, NJ.  Numerous nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his best bud, ‘Buddy’ the Dachshund who he loved. 

Predeceased in addition to his wife include one son; John C. Hoover Jr. who passed away in August 2021.   Eight brothers and sisters. 

Graveside service will take place on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 11am at Lower Valley Cemetery in Califon, NJ.
