John E. Porter "Big Job", age 64, of Highland Park, NJ, passed away on June 11, 2022 at home.
He was born on February 20, 1958 in New Brunswick, NJ.
The son of Roy Porter and Elsie Wilcox Porter of New Brunswick, NJ he was a loving father and grandfather. He was so proud of his children, John and Jackie and instantly fell in love with his two grandsons, John and Jake.
He was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School in New Brunswick, NJ.
John was an enthusiastic outdoorsman who loved nothing more than casting a line. He was employed by Taylor Oil in Somerville for over 37 years. He had a reputation of having a great sense of humor and a big heart.
John was a true Jersey boy who enjoyed the Jersey Shore and the many life-time friends he made during those years.
‘Big Job’ is survived by his son John Porter and daughter-in-law Kristen of Pittstown along with his grandsons John and Jake and his daughter Dr. Jacklyn Porter of Mooresville , NC. Brothers James (Blanche) of PA, Robert of Dayton, sisters Nancy Porter of Dayton and Joyce Young (Bill) of Highland Park, five nieces and nephews and seven great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Lynn Porter of Clinton Twp., NJ.
Calling hours will take place on Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Funeral Mass will be Friday, June 17, 2022 at 10am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 2 White Bridge Road, Pittstown, NJ. Interment will be private.
