Obituary

John ‘Ben’ Benjamin Woodhull Sr., age 90, of Lebanon Twp., NJ passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Hackettstown Medical Center in Hackettstown, NJ.

He was born on February 10, 1933 in Brookside, NJ.  He lived in Brookside, Mendham and Morristown as a child and resided in Lebanon Twp., NJ since 1973. 

He was the son of the late Albert Smith and Fanny Mae Woodhull.

His beloved wife, Janet Sloan Woodhull, passed away in 2010 after 36 years of marriage.

He entered into the National Guard in 1948, was federalized in 1950 and was discharged from the US Army Artillery Battalion on November 24, 1951. 

Ben worked as a truck driver for various companies including Bush Dairy, Welsh Farms Dairy and Readington Farms.

He was a big animal lover and a lifelong Yankees fan.  He played softball on several teams and enjoyed riding bicycles.  He also loved working on and using tractors and lawnmowers. 

Survivors include four children; John B. Woodhull Jr. and his wife Maryann of Frenchtown, NJ, Donald A. Woodhull of High Bridge, NJ, Sue Ellen Protick and her husband Peter of Lebanon, NJ and Faith Joy Coughlan and her husband Joe of High Bridge, NJ.  One step-daughter; Linda Gross Giorgianni and her husband Domenic of Lebanon Twp., NJ.  Thirteen grandchildren; Duane Edward Woodhull, Annette Marie Russo and her husband Andrew, Denise Ann Rusnak and her husband Rob, Tammy Lynn Yeakel and her husband Ryan, Alan young, Wendy Raleigh and her husband Doug, Robin, Matthew Briner and his wife Erica, Stephen Briner, Jacquelynn Coughlan, Stephanie Ramos and her husband Danny, Henry Albert Crouse and Elizabeth C. Crouse.  Eighteen great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his beloved cat, Sparky.

Predeceased in addition to his loving wife by his son; Stephen Andrew Woodhull.  One granddaughter; Karen.  Eight siblings. 

All services will be private.
