Joseph Ferrere Obituary

Joseph Charles Ferrere, age 86, of Clinton, NJ passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ.

He was born on September 14, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY.  Joe resided in New York until 1953 when he enlisted with the US Navy.  He also lived in Mountainside, NJ for many years before moving to Clinton, NJ in November of 2019.

He was the son of Florence Piccione Ferrere of Mountainside, NJ and the late Jack Ferrere.

Joe was a US Navy veteran, serving from 1953 to 1957.

He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from CCNY and worked as an Accountant for various companies throughout his career.  He previously worked for Warner Lambert Pharmaceutical Company in Morristown, NJ and Loews Movie Theaters.

Memberships include Mountainside Rescue Squad.

Joe had many passions in life including playing Bridge, listening to music, reading (especially reading the newspaper), doing crossword puzzles, theater, old movies, and baseball.  He especially loved the NY Yankees.  Joe also enjoyed taking his 105 year-old mother to the grocery store daily.  To his nieces and nephews, Joe will always be “Honey Unks,” a nickname he got when they were babies, and that stuck for a lifetime. Honey Unks was an ever-cheerful teacher, playmate, and a master root beer float and hero sandwich maker.  He was very generous with the people around him and always gave away much more than he kept for himself.

Survivors in addition to his mother include one brother; Dennis Ferrere and his girlfriend Barbara Smith of High Bridge, NJ.  Two nieces; Janis Ferrere and Suzanne Norman and her husband Andy.  One nephew; Kenneth Ferrere and his wife Susan.  Six grand-nieces and grand-nephews; Kelly, Chris, Stephanie, Craig, Oliver and Calandra.

Due to recent health restrictions, the funeral service will be private.  Funeral Service will be live streamed on this webpage on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at 11am.  Interment will also be private.
