He was born on September 14, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY. Joe resided in New York until 1953 when he enlisted with the US Navy. He also lived in Mountainside, NJ for many years before moving to Clinton, NJ in November of 2019.

Joe had many passions in life including playing Bridge, listening to music, reading (especially reading the newspaper), doing crossword puzzles, theater, old movies, and baseball. He especially loved the NY Yankees. Joe also enjoyed taking his 105 year-old mother to the grocery store daily. To his nieces and nephews, Joe will always be “Honey Unks,” a nickname he got when they were babies, and that stuck for a lifetime. He was very generous with the people around him and always gave away much more than he kept for himself.

One nephew; Kenneth Ferrere and his wife Susan. Six grand-nieces and grand-nephews; Kelly, Chris, Stephanie, Craig, Oliver and Calandra.
