Judith ‘Judy’ J. Franks, age 78, of Palmerton, PA passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Scenic View Personal Care in Palmerton, PA.
She was born on September 20, 1943 in Elizabeth, NJ. She spent her childhood in Elizabeth and lived for many years in Pittstown, NJ and Nazareth, PA and most recently Palmerton, PA.
She was the daughter of the late Vincent and Vera Caprio Merlo.
Her husband, Ronald Stewart Franks passed away in November 2014 after 45 years of marriage.
Judy earned her degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Art from Kean University, formerly known as Newark State College.
Judy loved children and enjoyed working with kids. In her younger years she worked as a substitute teacher. As her sons grew up, she worked in the nursery at the Clinton Baptist Church in Clinton, NJ and later at Bethel Memorial Church in Palmer, PA and was an active member of both churches
Judy also loved baking. She was involved with baking for numerous fundraisers as well as many baby showers or special occasions for friends and families of the Church. She also enjoyed reading to the residents at Moravian Hall Square in Nazareth, PA.
Survivors include two sons; Steven Franks of Bath, PA and David Franks and his fiancé Angie Cooper of Farmingdale, ME. One brother; Vincent Merlo and his wife Carol of Colonia, NJ. She is also survived by three nieces.
Calling hours will take place Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 9am -11am at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment will immediately follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ.
