Beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Julia Agnus Winkle, of Easton, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 8, 2023 at Abington Manor at Morgan Hill Memory Care Village (where she resided for the last 4 years) on her 106th birthday.
Julia was born to Philomena (Matiecka) and Charles Kukucka on June 8, 1917 in Bayonne, New Jersey. In her early years, before the World War II, she worked for RCA in Harrison, New Jersey making tubes for radios. Julia married her husband, Isadore “Larry” Winkle. She enjoyed her time raising her family and spending time with her many siblings, nieces and nephews in Bayonne. Julia and Larry resided in Pensacola Florida for a few years while Larry served in the United States Navy. She also enjoyed playing cards, creating beautiful ceramics, baking delicious treats and knitting. She also loved traveling, especially to the New Jersey shore. When her children were younger, she volunteered at their school and was the president of the PTA at Saint Joseph’s School in Bayonne.
Julia is predeceased by her parents Philomena and Charles Kukucka, her beloved husband of 61 years Larry Winkle, siblings: Madeline, Ceil, Emil, Joseph, Marge and John, and grandson-in-law Robert Hasbrouck.
Julia is survived by her sons, Roger Winkle and wife Debra of Clinton Township, John Winkle of Bayonne, granddaughter Galadriel Hasbrouck, great grandchildren Chloe Hasbrouck and Charles ‘Charlie’ Hasbrouck all three of Cranford.
Visitation will be Monday June 19, 2023 at 9:30 am to 11:30 am with a funeral service following the visitation at 11:30 am at the Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ 08833. Interment to follow at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
